Director - Sr. Physical Natural Gas Trader

Description

This role involves executing profitable trading strategies in the physical natural gas markets, with a primary focus on cash trading and the optimization of storage and transportation assets. The Senior Physical Natural Gas Trader will be responsible for managing daily physical natural gas trading, optimizing company assets, collaborating with financial traders and originators, analyzing market data, managing risk, and building strong industry relationships.

What We're Looking For

Execute daily physical natural gas trading strategies in spot/cash markets.,Actively manage, optimize, and monetize natural gas storage and transportation positions.,Work closely with financial traders, schedulers, and originators to align strategies and ensure smooth physical deliveries.,Proactively pitch opportunities to acquire new storage, transport, and physical gas assets.,Analyze fundamental supply and demand data, pipeline flows, weather forecasts, and pricing trends.,Monitor and manage daily trading exposures within established risk limits and corporate compliance policies.,Develop and maintain strong working relationships with producers, end-users, pipeline operators, and other market participants.

Ideal Candidate

7 to 10+ years of direct, hands-on experience in physical natural gas trading.,Deep, working knowledge of North American natural gas markets, specifically Western Canadian (AECO) dynamics, regional pipeline networks, and storage facilities.,Documented history of generating positive P&L through physical cash trading and asset optimization.,Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, with proficiency in using market data platforms and trading software.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related quantitative field
