Description

The Debt Specialist I is responsible for reducing financial losses by effectively negotiating and collecting payments on various delinquent retail, consumer, residential, and auto accounts. This role involves understanding different loan products, identifying reasons for customer delinquencies, and utilizing standard procedures to secure payments.

What We're Looking For

Negotiate and collect payments on delinquent retail, consumer, residential or auto accounts.,Demonstrate proficiency in various processes, procedures, and systems related to debt collection.,Manage personal workload and coordinate tasks with team members.,Solve routine problems within own work area without direct supervision.,Evaluate and select solutions from established options.,Follow standardized procedures and suggest improvements for processes.,Communicate technical or process information clearly and with composure.,Determine reasons for customer delinquencies.,Identify different loan products including residential mortgages, home equities, indirect loans, mobile homes, lines of credit, unsecured loans, recreational vehicles, and overdrafts, and adapt approach accordingly.,Develop familiarity with debt management counseling to provide to customers.,Serve as the entry point for identification, routing, and documentation of collection support processes (e.g., modifications, bankruptcy, skip-tracing).

Ideal Candidate

High School Diploma or GED required.,Ability to develop strong phone skills for effective customer interaction.,Developing negotiation skills to achieve optimal solutions within guidelines.,Sales ability to make regular phone calls, present the company positively, and tactfully but firmly collect payments.,Ability to learn and explain a wide variety of consumer loan product details.,Strong writing ability to clearly document calls.,Proficiency in PC skills.
