Description

This Data Engineer role within CIBC's Enterprise Technology team focuses on contributing to key strategic initiatives like digital transformation, cloud migration, and automation. The successful candidate will work with the Enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) Technology team, delivering and managing BI services and platforms across CIBC. Responsibilities include exploring emerging BI technologies and cloud solutions, ensuring customer-centric BI services, collaborating on development, designing and implementing infrastructure, programming BI reports and workflows, and actively participating in project delivery to ensure quality solutions. The role emphasizes automation for efficiency and cost savings.

What We're Looking For

Contribute to BI team goals by collaborating with other functional teams and continuously seeking improvements in BI service functionality, stability, capacity, and performance.,Engage in discussions and assignments for infrastructure design and implementation, requiring a 'big picture' understanding of overall system integration and data flows.,Perform, coordinate, and facilitate changes to services, develop and deliver BI reports, dashboards, and workflows. Provide user guidance and automate processes for efficiency and cost savings.,Actively participate in project activities and deliverables to ensure quality solution delivery aligned with business and project requirements. Monitor production and user acceptance testing for troubleshooting complex problems.

Ideal Candidate

5+ years of expertise in building and maintaining robust BI infrastructure.,Solid Database Application development experience using SQL, PL/SQL, Azure SQL, SQL server, MySQL.,Knowledge of BI tools such as SAS, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, and ThoughtSpot, with a primary focus on backend infrastructure.,Proficiency in configuring and optimizing BI applications, including server farm setup, application configurations, feature enablement, and network security (e.g., whitelist management).,Strong database administration knowledge, including experience in designing, managing, and optimizing relational and non-relational databases.,Proficient in writing and tuning complex queries, managing database security, and ensuring high availability and performance of database systems.,Solid understanding of operating systems like Windows and Linux, proficient in scripting and automation using tools such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.,Ability to automate infrastructure and governance tasks to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and improve system reliability.,Expertise in cloud computing, with a strong preference for experience in Microsoft Azure, including hands-on experience with cloud-based infrastructure and analytic tooling (Databricks, Azure Data Factory, ADLS) (nice to have).,Influence, goal-oriented, driven by collective success, and passionate about client service.
