Data Architect
Description
CGI is seeking a skilled Data Architect to manage enterprise databases and support critical application deployments. The role involves data migration, database object creation, performance tuning, and deployment scripting for a company with 72,000 professionals globally.
What We're Looking For
Perform data migration across environments and platforms.
Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business and technical requirements.
Analyze existing systems and translate business needs into data structures and relationships.
Define data standards, naming conventions, and metadata for consistency.
Ensure models support performance, scalability, and integration requirements.
Design and create database objects (tables, indexes, stored procedures, views).
Optimize queries and perform performance tuning.
Prepare and execute deployment scripts for releases and environment refreshes.
Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure availability and reliability.
Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for application deployments.
Ideal Candidate
Strong expertise in data modeling methodologies (3NF, dimensional/star schema, snowflake, etc.).
Proficiency with data modeling tools (ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or similar).
Strong SQL knowledge and understanding of RDBMS concepts.
Proven experience in data migration, performance tuning, and query optimization.
Strong skills in SQL scripting and automation.
Hands-on knowledge of backup/recovery tools and deployment processes.
Good understanding of indexes, partitions, and database design principles.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps-based database deployments (Nice to Have).
Exposure to cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP) (Nice to Have).
