This role involves ensuring a robust control environment for the CIBC Wood Gundy Branch network. The Business Risk Advisory Consultant will monitor compliance with industry regulations, corporate policies, and ethical standards, acting as a primary contact for escalated or complex issues for Wood Gundy advisors and partners.
Ensure effective control environment within CIBC Wood Gundy Branch network.,Adhere to industry regulations, corporate policies, and business ethics.,Act as a key contact for Wood Gundy advisors, Operations teams, and business partners on escalated or complex Business Risk Advisory issues.,Respond to new and escalated Business Risk Advisory queries accurately and timely.,Identify and implement recommendations with management to address root causes.,Day-to-day activities include AML exceptions, WG Privacy, Private Placements, Estate issues, Trust Accounts, Legal enquiries, POAs, Security Risk Rating, Fraud, and WG Conflicts of Interest.,Perform/coordinate centralized supervision functions such as OTCs and Social Media Direct Messages supervision.,Follow up on questionable transactions.,Identify, analyze, and implement actions to meet regulatory requirements and timelines.,Develop and maintain relationships with internal auditors, Wood Gundy Compliance, Branch Managers, and Regional/Managing Directors.,Lead and represent the Business Risk Advisory Department on key business reviews, projects, and audits.,Coordinate priorities to ensure BRAE action items are completed accurately, timely, diligently, and thoroughly.,Educate, support, coach, and mentor WG branches and business partners on technical issues.,Identify and resolve Business Risk Advisory issues, helping colleagues adhere to CIBC policies and controls.,Retrieve, consolidate, and analyze Business Risk Advisory Metrics.,Assist with workload allocation to meet changing priorities.,Coordinate documentation and analysis of Business Risk Advisory policies, procedures, intranet site, and communications.
Good knowledge of the financial services industry.,Solid understanding of the CIBC Wood Gundy business, regulatory, and compliance environment.,Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is beneficial.,Successfully completed Canadian Securities Course.,Successfully completed Conduct and Practices Handbook; other industry courses beneficial.,Well-developed problem-solving skills.,Ability to manage several small to medium sized projects concurrently.,Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and competing objectives.,Strong interpersonal skills.,Critical thinking skills.,Strong written and verbal communication skills.,Proactive and service-oriented.
