This role is pivotal in ensuring site food safety and quality management for a large-scale artisanal cheese-making process. The Compliance Coordinator will drive and improve standards, leading a team of four Quality Control technicians to transition from a reactive to a proactive technical department. Key focuses include documentation, identifying gaps in QMS procedures and SOPs through verification and validations, implementing improvements through training, and supporting QC and operational personnel to manage processes and ensure product quality. The role also involves challenging the status quo, improving site systems through regular audits and reviews, and driving operational excellence within a changing environment at the Hawes site.
Maintain and develop QA technicians through effective leadership, communication, training, development, motivation, direction, and standards.,Structure, implement, update, and maintain the site's QMS (Q-Pulse), ensuring compliance with customer, legal, and regulatory requirements.,Act as a subject matter expert for the QMS and champion its use across the site.,Coordinate and implement the internal audit schedule, train new auditors, report audit completion, and attend quarterly performance review meetings.,Maintain up-to-date accreditation and retailer standards through gap analysis and closure of actions.,Raise and coordinate customer complaint investigations in a timely manner.,Develop trends and KPI data, update across the site in weekly reviews, monthly briefings, and complete group technical reports.,Identify and implement areas for improvement and work with teams to develop sustainable actions.,Build and develop external relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.,Ensure audit readiness.
Strong understanding of QMS principles and ISO standards within a similar environment (FMCG/food/beverage production).,Strong awareness of retailer codes of practice and customer-specific quality expectations.,Strong knowledge of food safety legislations, customer standards, and accreditation standards.,Skilled in developing and interpreting KPI data, identifying trends, and presenting findings effectively.,Capable of delivering training and development to QC and operations teams.,Clear and confident communicator, able to work across a range of internal teams and external stakeholders at all levels.,Familiar with Lean principles, risk assessments, and preventative quality expectations.,Skilled in planning, conducting, and reporting internal audits, with GAP analysis and corrective actions familiarity.
