Commercial Real Estate Underwriting & Portfolio Manager - GPM

Description

The Group Portfolio Manager (GPM) at CIBC Bank USA is responsible for managing a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans across all product types. Key duties include reviewing modification/annual review drafts, reporting on the portfolio, managing internal and external reviews, and providing leadership and training to junior team members. The GPM also acts as a liaison between credit, business lines, and borrowers, serving as a frontline risk manager and ensuring adherence to CIBC’s risk culture. The role involves working collaboratively on deal structures, managing workflow in Salesforce, and exercising credit approval authority within limits. They are expected to support client onboarding, ensure timely execution of portfolio management activities, and represent the group in portfolio review meetings. Additional responsibilities include signing off on pricing grid reviews, attending Loan Committee meetings, serving as an Enhanced Oversight Officer, and supporting various regulatory exams and controls.

What We're Looking For

Manage a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans across all product types.,Review analyst and AM modification/Annual Review drafts.,Report on the assigned portfolio.,Manage internal and external reviews of the portfolio.,Work with offshore resources to complete reviews.,Provide leadership and training to junior employees.,Act as the liaison between credit, the line of business, and the borrower.,Act as the front line risk manager for credits.,Execute 1A risk management activities consistent with CIBC’s risk culture.,Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure individuals’ roles support business priorities and CIBC’s goals.,Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities (e.g., job shadowing, special projects, training).,Manage performance by providing feedback, identifying obstacles, and aligning expectations with business priorities.,Create a positive work environment and role model CIBC’s mission, vision, and values.,Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls.,Work collaboratively with RM, Market Lead, and Group Head on deal structure, risk, and resources.,Manage workflow and maintain an accurate pipeline of opportunities in Salesforce.,Exercise credit approval authority (non-LPO) for certain credit products/processes up to approved limits.,Support efforts of the Deal Team to optimize client onboarding/closing experience.,Engage with RMs, PMs, and Associates to address issues/roadblocks and ensure timely execution of PM activities.,Ensure reviews, renewals, and reporting are timely; oversee PMs for accurate risk ratings; review all loan presentations.,Report past due status (e.g., R/A/G reports) to HPA.,Primary representative of Group in portfolio review meetings; knowledgeable of portfolio risk points.,Sign off on pricing grid reviews and ensure past due tickler report items are remediated.,Attend Loan Committee meetings to support RMs/Market Leaders on behalf of Group Head.,Serve as Enhanced Oversight Officer (“EOO”) on all transactions rated 5W and worse.,Sign off on quarterly SOX controls.,Support the Group in preparing for Credit Review or FRB/FDIC/OSFI exams.,Ensure team readiness for CAMP and quarterly trend card/review meetings, including Shared National Credit exams.,Review all FAS 114 specific reserve/impairment materials prior to submission.,Coordinate manual data collection efforts where automation is not available.,Direct client contact as needed in performing responsibilities.
