The Commercial Credit Underwriter III is a key member of the Small Business SBA Credit Team at TD Bank. This role is responsible for underwriting and adjudicating SBA 7a loan requests up to $1 million, as well as handling modification requests for existing SBA 7a loans. The underwriter collaborates with Relationship Managers and Business Bankers to structure loan requests that align with SBA SOP and TD Bank policy, adhering to the bank's risk appetite. Responsibilities include comprehensive analysis, underwriting of commercial loan applications, and potentially acting as the final decision-maker, all while ensuring compliance with lending practices, policies, procedures, and federal banking regulations.
Analyze, underwrite, and potentially act as final decision authority on commercial loan applications.,Adhere to sound lending practices, policies, and procedures.,Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, quality and production guidelines, Federal Banking Regulations, and Government Reporting requirements.,Conduct basic financial analysis for less complex loans/industries/customers.,Expected to attain exception and high-risk authority.,Mentor and participate in the development of Underwriting Staff.,Conduct credit investigations and analyze financial information for relationships with Commercial Credit exposure.,Perform historical business financial analysis and cash flows, including communicating with the borrower's accountant as needed.,Conduct in-depth analysis of guarantor's financial position (personal financial statements, contingent liabilities, cash flow analysis, tax returns, credit reporting).,Investigate credit and financial information sources.,Research economic and market conditions relevant to the company, industry, and market area.,Identify and mitigate key credit risks, noting deviations from loan policy and decisioning appropriate structures.,Identify and decision credit applications requiring enhancements like SBA.,Render final credit decisions within individual lending authority based on a comprehensive assessment of risks, collateral, financials, credit reports, and repayment ability.,Discuss alternative structures and assessments with market and sales personnel.,Demonstrate proven leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring.,Set lending conditions and collaborate with shared services for loan closings.,Meet loan production turnaround requirements while maintaining quality.,Maintain satisfactory portfolio delinquencies and charge-offs.,Ensure departmental compliance with TD Bank Credit Policy, Federal Banking Regulation, and Government Reporting requirements.
Undergraduate degree preferred. 8+ years of relevant Commercial lending experience. Prior lending authority strongly preferred. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, good business judgment, strong organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, time management, and decision-making skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and a team orientation. Ability to work effectively with various business partners. Developed PC skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software. Computer literacy with a variety of software programs. Small Business Administration/Agency experience preferred.
