Central Services Technician I - (Cagewash)

Description

The Central Services Technician I is responsible for the overall sanitation of animal cages and related equipment, including cage wash rooms, feed and bedding rooms, hallways, loading docks, and other designated areas. This role also involves receiving and storing animal feed, bedding, and other supplies, all in adherence to federal, state, local (Animal Welfare) laws, and departmental Good Laboratory Animal Practices (GLAP) SOPs.

What We're Looking For

Remove dirty bedding and other items from shoe boxes.

Perform cage and other related equipment sanitation.

Flush water cage manifolds.

Operate washers and ensure that cage washing and related equipment are in proper working order.

Perform daily start-up and shut down procedures of the cage washer.

Operate autoclave to sterilize or decontaminate caging equipment and other related equipment.

Transport caging and equipment between animal areas and cage wash rooms and vice versa.

Perform sanitation of cage wash rooms and other ancillary areas, such as hallways, feed, bedding, and storage areas.

Organize and manage documentation.

Remove trash and waste according to safety guidelines.

Read and understand all SOPs related to assigned duties.

Receive and store animal feed, bedding, and supplies; record and file the appropriate information.

Sanitize empty animal room(s) and labs.

Inspect enrichment devices, cages, and other items.

Conduct and collect various aseptic sampling for the monitoring of water quality, sanitized animal racks and equipment.

Ideal Candidate

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Zero to six months experience working in a laboratory animal facility performing cage wash duties or working with glassware cleaning or a commercial dishwashing operation or operating large equipment.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
