The Audit Manager II is a leadership role responsible for guiding a team of auditors in assessing risks, developing and executing audit programs, analyzing results, and effectively communicating audit findings to senior management. This position focuses on providing independent assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of risk management practices, governance processes, and internal controls within City National Bank’s Wealth Management platform. Key activities include continuous monitoring, leveraging data analytics, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and mentoring junior auditors. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying emerging risks and ensuring compliance with regulatory changes.
Candidates must be able to plan, execute, and evaluate audit test plans for projects of medium to high complexity using a risk-based audit approach. This includes assessing risks and controls, designing comprehensive audit programs, supervising and reviewing the work of other auditors, analyzing test results, and effectively communicating findings through written reports and presentations. The role involves managing assigned staff, collaborating with other audit groups, and understanding operational and wealth management specific risks, including information security and privacy. Continuous monitoring activities, gathering and evaluating information from business units and external sources, and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment are essential. Furthermore, the role requires supporting the Audit Director, building trusting relationships with internal audit peers and business management, advising stakeholders on internal control and governance, influencing key stakeholders, and mentoring junior auditors.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Minimum 2-5 years of audit or related experience in banking operations, compliance, and/or risk management activities. Minimum 2 years of experience conducting internal audits within financial institutions and supervising staff. Required certifications include one of the following: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CFIRS (Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist), CFA (Certified Financial Analyst), or CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist).
