Description

This role is with the Enterprise Control Testing (ECT) group, a centralized team within the Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) at RBC. The team is responsible for performing control testing in line with RBC's Internal Control Management Policy (ICMP) and standards. The Associate Director will lead a team of analysts and managers, overseeing the execution of the ECT program. Key responsibilities include establishing procedures, providing oversight, conducting control assurance activities, reporting on risk and control environment, and identifying opportunities for improvement. The incumbent will act as a subject matter expert in risk management and control evaluation, working closely with the Director, ECT, and liaising with Platform stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

Lead, guide, and coach a team of Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Managers in control testing.

Develop team skills and identify training needs in risk management and control evaluation activities.

Demonstrate advanced risk management knowledge and understanding of RBC's control evaluation standards and businesses.

Manage day-to-day team operations including hiring, resource planning, assignment distribution, and conflict resolution.

Participate in staff performance management and provide feedback.

Create and manage control evaluation coverage plans, metrics, and maintain ECT tools/archive system.

Perform review and sign-off on control evaluation work papers and results, as needed.

Act as a primary escalation point for control testers.

Develop relationships across the organization to facilitate communication and strategic partnerships.

Facilitate and advise ECT partners on the Control Testing status for assigned programs.

Provide comprehensive results of the Testing program to ECT Management and other stakeholders, demonstrating negotiation and persuasion skills to socialize identified control gaps and issues.

Ensure control evaluations are completed timely and meet quality standards.

Resolve issues and escalations resulting from control evaluations.

Manage stakeholders when liaising with Platform stakeholders and local managers on work/program assignments.

Support ECT in maintaining oversight of the Book of Work & ECT control testing program execution and support any change initiatives.

Contribute to ad-hoc assignments/special process improvement projects to enhance maturity of ECT program/increase efficiencies.

Participate in regular discussions with ECT Senior Management on strategies and work plans.

Leverage advanced writing and communication skills to develop Senior Management briefing materials and periodic management reporting.

Lead development and maintenance of ORM tools/templates utilized for qualitative risk assessments and control testing.

Minimum 5 years of experience in Operational Risk Management, Compliance or Audit/consultancy.

Experience in control testing and capital planning (1LOD or 2LOD) is an advantage.

Ability to work in a matrix structure/global environment, actively managing a diverse group of stakeholders across different geographies.

Experience in the Banking/Financial Services industry (preferable).

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Professional qualification in accounting, certifications associated with Risk Management or Compliance preferred.
