Associate, Asset Based Lending – Commercial Banking - Bilingual

Description

The Asset Based Lending team at CIBC provides financing solutions to mid-market and corporate clients across Canada. This Associate position, based in Montreal, will focus on managing client portfolios and evaluating new opportunities in Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Responsibilities include preparing financing proposals, underwriting new credit transactions, assisting with documentation, negotiations, closing deals, and managing existing loan portfolios.

What We're Looking For

Attend discussions with client management to assess financing needs.,Perform comprehensive financial/non-financial analysis and risk assessment of credit proposals.,Assist in preparing financing proposals (structuring terms, conditions, security, covenants, pricing).,Prepare draft recommendations on credit submissions for senior management.,Assist with comprehensive due diligence on all transactions.,Prepare credit memoranda and other credit correspondence according to policies and procedures.,Develop relations with internal and external customers to generate referrals and business opportunities.,Monitor and supervise a portfolio of senior debt accounts.,Manage relationships with borrowers and Relationship Managers.,Monitor account performance and industry trends.,Maintain a proactive approach to continuous risk assessment and report observations.,Assist in negotiation of terms and conditions of proposals.

Ideal Candidate

Diploma/degree in finance, accounting or business administration (BBA or MBA preferred).,Other financial designations considered an asset (e.g., CA, CBV, CMA, CFA).,2+ years of professional experience in a commercial credit environment.,Excellent financial modeling and accounting skills.,Understanding of lending policies, procedures and practices, credit assessment and structuring, and industry and competitive analysis.,Business acumen.,Working knowledge of commercial lending, including specialized senior lending products (ABL, structured/acquisition financings, loan syndication) and other CIBC group core products and services.,Knowledge of business, legal, tax, banking and regulatory framework affecting financial requirements of customers is a plus.,Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French, with the ability to present financial information to clients.
