Description

This role is for an external FX Artist at Psyonix, responsible for supporting and overseeing creative content provided by external partners. The artist will offer front-line creative feedback on submitted work, document existing production pipelines, gather or create technical examples and quality references, collect photographic references, produce visual element sketches, perform simple retouches, and prepare files for external artists.

What We're Looking For

Work with team leads and art directors to establish visual direction for external vendors.,Gather or produce detailed documentation, video references, and examples of artistic asset creation, procedures, and engine requirements to support external partners.,Clearly communicate feedback to outsourced partners and ensure creative directions and objectives are well understood and relayed by internal artists, level designers, game designers, and the production team to ensure a common vision for visual effects.,Possess a strong understanding of weight, rhythm, movement, and technical aptitude in materials and visual logic.,Train external partner artists on Psyonix's precise techniques and best practices.,Generate enthusiasm for projects among external teams.,Work with internal stakeholders or intellectual property owners on licensed asset approvals.

Ideal Candidate

Experience shipping AAA titles across multiple platforms.,Experience delivering high-quality, production-ready game assets, with a focus on stylized art or stylized realism.,Must have a strong portfolio showcasing finished game assets (hard surfaces and organic environments).,Strong understanding of the latest tools in game art asset creation, including Unreal Engine, Substance Painter, Perforce, and 3D modeling kits.,Experience with Houdini, Flow (ShotGrid), and Miro is a plus.,Highly organized, autonomous, and customer-focused.,Excellent team spirit.,Ability to critique, mentor, and improve artistic assets through written feedback loops.,In-depth understanding of technical obstacles, ability to make autonomous choices to improve asset quality, and excellent communication skills.,Experience working within a high-level team and production environment.
