Animal Care Technician I

Review, comprehend, and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards.,Monitor daily animal health and welfare, including health observations and husbandry duties (water, food, cage checks, cleaning).,Record animal health concerns per SOP and protocols.,Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator areas.,Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species.,Strictly follow procedures for animal housing areas, including personnel entry, PPE use, and material spraying.,Receive, inspect, and house incoming animals, ensuring sentinel animals in rodent housing.,May maintain and follow breeding and weaning procedures for appropriate production levels.,Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines, perform general housekeeping, and adhere to safety procedures.,Maintain required attendance and work schedule.,Perform other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or G.E.D. plus a minimum of six to twelve months experience working in a laboratory animal facility performing animal husbandry.,Associate's degree in animal science or related field plus a minimum of six months experience working in a laboratory animal facility performing animal husbandry.,Bachelor's degree in animal science or related field plus zero to six months experience working in laboratory animal facility performing animal husbandry.

High School Diploma or G.E.D., Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.,Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.,Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.,Occasionally required to sit.,Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.,Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, laboratory animal caging of various species (mice, rats, rodents, rabbits).,Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazard materials/agents, infectious disease, and risk of electrical shock.
